4th Hole

The 4th hole, the first of 4 par 3s at Arbroath. At 166 yards from the medal tee, surrounded by a burn to the front and right of the green along with four bunkers guarding the green, it really is a test. The green slopes from left to right so even a ball making the putting surface requires plenty of concentration for the putt. My whole reason for doing this weekly hole guide is to try to get each of you to think your way around the golf course better. Normally I wouldn’t suggest laying up at a par 3 but in this case I wouldn’t rule it out, there is one particular member I know of who never goes for this green, (he shall remain nameless!) and quite regularly makes a 3 by chipping and putting. For the longer hitter the preferred miss would be left and a little long so make sure you take plenty club and aim for the left half of the green regardless of where the pin is situated. I look forward to hearing your feedback on how you approach this cracking par 3.
