2nd Hole
2nd Hole
So we are now onto the 2nd, and I have to admit probably my least favourite tee shot on the course, particularly with the difficult recent winds blowing off of the sea! At 481 from the medal tees it certainly isn’t the longest par 5 you will face but it certainly is a testing tee shot. That being said the vast majority of golfers playing this hole will play it as a 3 shot hole or possibly even a 4 shot hole due to the burn crossing the fairway at around 290 off the tee from the medal tees. The hole is also stroke index 3 so the vast majority of golfers will be receiving a stroke on this hole in some cases 2. Taking all of this into account why not leave the driver in the bag and go to a club you comfortable and confident with that you can find the fairway, from there you can take a similar club to either layup short of the burn or play over leaving a short or mid iron into a big double green. Once on the green although big it is fairly flat and shouldn’t be the hardest green to 2 putt. Certainly a birdie chance for the longer hitters but also a great chance for the higher handicapper to pick up 3 Stableford points if played with course management in mind!
