14th Hole
14th Hole
Often described as the signature hole here at Arbroath the 14th is probably the toughest hole to par on the course from the medal tees. At 239 yards from the medal tees and often playing into the wind for many, this green is out of reach in one. I always think how we look at holes such as this in a strange way; if this were a par 4 we would be thinking what an easy birdie chance! However, we stand on the 14th and think “how am I ever going to make par here!” My advice for this hole would be if you don’t think you can reach then don’t go for it, lay up to the widest part of the fairway short right and leave yourself a pitch from the short grass. The pitch isn’t always the easiest but commit to the shot and play for the middle of the green. A 4 here won’t be the end of the world by any means!
